Lake Michigan

Lake Michigan is one of the five Great Lakes of North America, ranking number two in volume and third in surface area after Lake Superior and Lake Huron. It is the only lake contained entirely within the United States. Lake Michigan is Chicago's main source of drinking water as well as serving as access to the Atlantic ocean via the St Lawrence seaway. For natives and visitors alike, Lake Michigan serves as a summertime oasis. There are various marinas and beaches on the lake within the city as well. The most popular beach is North Avenue Beach featuring a 22,000 square foot beach house with upper and lower decks ideal for viewing the striking and glorious horizon.
