Brookfield Zoo

Brookfield Zoo, home to more than 2,000 animals, is a study in contrasts. Inhabitants of the world’s driest desert live here, as do bottlenose dolphins that show off extraordinary behaviors daily. Kids and their families can explore nature, and touch small animals in Hamill Family Play Zoo, then see giant creatures like giraffes, hippos, and elephants just a short distance away. A visit to Brookfield Zoo is a chance to enjoy hundreds of spacious acres, yet step up to within a few feet of a powerful African lion or stealthy Mexican gray be a visitor favorite!

Take Metra: Exit at the Zoo Stop (Hollywood Station) on the Burlington Northern line and walk four blocks northeast.

By bus: PACE bus routes 304 or route 331.

By car: Brookfield Zoo is located at First Ave. between Ogden Ave. and 31st St. in Brookfield, 14 miles west of Chicago. Take I-290 or I-55 to the First Ave. exits. Follow the signs to the zoo’s main entrance.
